"LOS/NR is excited to announce everything and anything, a group show of striking artists from San Diego, CA working in video, painting, photography, sculpture and installation. This is a show about the fluff that is filling and wrapping the story structures of our lives, at each step, at each level - from being born to falling in love, to finding a passion, getting ill, and passing on." from Level of Service/Not Required gallery website. Exhibit Aug 1 - Sep 13, 2025 La Jolla, CA.

A San Diego Union Tribune article featuring artist Louise Russell and Rob Hutsel, CEO San Diego River Park Foundation, by Lisa Deaderick covers the The Hyde Art Gallery's One River, Many Stories exhibition, 2025, and the San Diego River Park Foundation's work for the river.

" From the early days of the Kumeyaay to people living in San Diego today, the river has ‘many stories’ to tell. The San Diego River Artists Alliance and the San Diego River Park Foundation partner for a new exhibition featuring various styles of art to tell the stories of the San Diego River at Grossmont College’s Hyde Art Gallery March 24 to April 24, 2025."

In the main gallery photographs from Reverence: San Diego River are exhibited. These were captured with an 8” x 10” pinhole camera, the film is processed in my darkroom, scanned, edited in Photoshop, printed on PictoricoPro film, then white gold leaf is hand applied. The white gold leaf shimmers and expresses my reverence for the river, its precious and fragile nature, and our effects on it, past and present.

Outdoors in the Patterson Memorial Window hangs seven fabric cyanotype scrolls, 3 x 6-8 feet, each telling a different story of the river through quoted voices about the Kumeyaay, Birders, Japanese American farmers, Mission Valley Development, Boating, Homeless, and the river's voice.

LIVING AND PHOTOGRAPHING IN AN IMPERFECT NATION, 2025
Juror Arthur Ollman gave my entry 1 of the 4 Awards and said this, "And Russell by using tripod, pinhole annd scanner and photoshop has created a hybrid of processes and thus appearances. Then my employing the old romantic, classic viewpoint and pristine place selections she also gives us a fall from grace interruption of unlovely human intrusions. Identifying mundane places in ways that identify issues is a way to show a subtler and in-the-end more meaningful statement."
